This Strange History by Frank Trotz

This play is about the search for the meaning of violence. Nick, the main character. is an actor in British Columbia. He is the play Cherry Red Docs. His partner, Ginny, whom he is about to marry, is working in a restaurant. At 10:00 PM she is leaving the restaurant. She goes out to get a bus from the bus stop. A man whom she served in the restaurant, follows her in the dark, grabs her, chokes her and rapes her. Nick gets a call from the police station, runs there, recognizes the dead Ginny, and is overcome with his feelings. He moves to Toronto, starts a theatre company there, whose pursuit is to explore the nature of violence through the experiences of the actors. The play moves back and forth from the restaurant, where the actors work, back to the theatre, where each actor brings in his/her experience of violence. In the restaurant, there are many scenes that a various examples of violent acts.
