A farmer rescues a goose trapped in barbed wire and sets her free. She later returns in human form and he marries her, despite his mother's objections. She displays a remarkable talent for weaving beautiful blankets, but will not allow him to watch her as she works. The blankets bring in badly-needed money, but making them takes a toll on her. Overcome with worry, the farmer struggles with his promise not to look. Set on a "not very good farm" on the prairies during the Great Depression.
