When Edward Connell Powers suffers a stroke, he must turn over the running of his furniture factory, the town's largest employer, to his son James. His son hires the only care giver he can find, Gloria Delaney, whose hair is bigger than her sense of self-work. Little by little over his convalesence they become friends.
