Warm and funny urban fable that centres on Emilie, a middle-aged woman left suddenly alone with an empty house and barren garden. When she makes a new friend, her family is less than welcoming. Not only is her new companion a stuffed shirt, but Emilie has stuffed him herself - he is a life-size scarecrow. To the dismay of family and neighbours, they soon become inseparable. But there is more to Emilie's scarecrow than meets the eyes of those who would decree what is normal. The Los Angeles Village Voice said of this play: "The characters are lovingly sketched, with a knowing enjoyment of human foibles... enormously engaging."
