A teacher and a counselor at a private elementary school in rural Quebec are fiercely at odds over the teacher's disciplinary methods. They are diverted from their battle with each other when a child who was a victim of the teacher's harsh "line-up" runs away into the clutches of a kidnapper. A friendship is formed between them as they help in the search for the boy, but it may not endure.
