Not All Flowers Are Pretty by Michael L. Poirier

Anthea Manning is not blessed with beauty by nature; she is overweight and has a larger than normal nose. Anthea is not a happy girl. At 29 she has never had a boyfriend, never lived on her own and has had few friends. She has also suffered from depression most of her life.

Living with her parents has not been without its trials and tribulations for the girl either. John, her father, is a welder at the local fabricating shop and is a tad "redneck". Glenna, her mother, is sympathetic, but refuses to acknowledge Anthea's method of creating a new world for herself. Anthea decides it's time to make some changes in her life and is going to get a complete makeover... via cosmetic surgery. The ensuing debate amongst the three borders on civil war and the results from the surgery force everyone to re-evaluate their look on life.
