Motherland by Kristine Greenaway
Davit lives with his mother, Ana, whose need to protect him is a constant source of friction between them despite the love they feel for each other. When the aspiring actor meets Lina, Davit recognizes that this is his chance to finally leave his mother's home. Ana is desperately afraid of being left alone and mounts a campaign to poison Davit's relationship with Lina.
When Lina and Davit are offered film jobs in Berlin, Davit hesitates to accept the offer until Lina makes it clear she'll go without him. Ana threatens suicide and exacts a promise from Davit not to leave her. Lina flies to Berlin and Davit is left with his shattered dreams.
