Let There Be Angels by Robert Wheeler
In “Let There Be Angels,” Marvin and Wendy, a confrontational professional couple, are on their way to the airport to have a Mexican vacation when they stumble into an impossible to get out of sinkhole at night in a remote part of a city park. Each are sure, for separate reasons, the other will balk at boarding the plane. A homeless man, Rafe, discovers them, but decides not to help them because he has had a dispute with Marvin earlier in the day. Rafe has people to talk to and who need him while the couple have time together to confront their differences. Can the sink hole work for or against them? Then there’s Rafe.
