It's the weekend of the Fall Fair and eleven year old Roddy has been busy training his pet frog for the Jumping contest, driving his parents Allison and Peter and his sister Julie to distraction with his need for fresh flies. Allison's sister and her husband Jean and Harold visit for the weekend and bring with them Harold's mother Winnie who has been thrown out of her Seniors home for belting a would be lothario. As the three generations of family intertwine we witness the humour, sadness and wisdom associated with being young and growing old and come to the realization that one should never judge a book by its cover.
