After 10 years of activism, Daniel Thau-Eleff is running away. He hops a train to the East Coast. On his way, he reads Eichmann in Jerusalem, by Hannah Arendt, the story of a Nazi bureaucrat about who Arendt coined the phrase "The Banality of Evil." Daniel reflects on his activism for justice in Israel/Palestine while living and working on a farm with a couple whose relationship goes from sweet to abusive. Each of these story lines becomes a counterpoint for the others as Daniel wrestles with the question of evil: why do good people do bad things?
