In the near-ish future, the End of Civilisation as we know it has been brought about by the excessive celebration of Christmas. Deanne, obsessed with making Christmas perfect for her family, goes on a shooting spree while shopping for that last minute gift. When people stop shopping as a result, it causes an economic catastrophe. Josie, a doomsday prophet and former professor of economics, saw it coming and tried to warn people, but no one would listen.
