The story follows the past and present of two oppressed women, living in different times and places. This is the story of their imprisonment and their resilience. Sarah is a Puritan charged with witchcraft, and Katya is in Stalin’s Gulag, but they share the same cell. Each woman tells their story to the other, and the one man central to each materializes. (These two central male characters can be, but do not have to be, played by one actor.) Danger soon becomes imminent, and as their narratives progress, so does Sarah and Katya’s need for one another.
