Charlotte's Pain by Michael L. Poirier

Charlotte Manson has been married for three years to Michael Manson, but has been alone for the last two. It is the spring of 1943 and Michael has been overseas fighting in the Second World War. Michael dies in Italy; two soldiers deliver the crushing news and a final letter from her husband. Now Charlotte is left with memories. This is her story.
