Twenty-odd years ago, as a struggling young writer, Simon Bridgewell was a donor at The Bundle of Joy Fertility Clinic to earn a little extra cash. When this comedy opens, the now married and still struggling fifty-something Simon is bemoaning his lack of success as a novelist with his wife. When the result of that ‘donation’ arrives unannounced at Simon’s door he is shocked but also thrilled to learn he is a proud father so late in life. His wife is not quite so happy and is skeptical that this young man is actually who he claims to be. There are laughs a plenty as his newly found son moves in and wins over the previously childless couple and changes Simon’s fate as a writer. All of which leads up to the surprise ending.
This hilarious, new comedy is written by Londos D’Arrigo, who for over forty years contributed his wit and humour to the acts of Phyllis Diller, Lily Tomlin and Joan Rivers. He is also the author of the popular comedies, Spreading it Around and Harris Cashes Out! which have been produced throughout Canada and U.S.
