Marnie Levine is a rising stand-up comic of Jewish background. She and her actor friend Jennifer Woods seek a short-term roommate to help with expenses and find Annie Sinclair, a warm-hearted attorney from Ottawa. They soon discover Annie is the granddaughter of a suspected Nazi war criminal who has lived in Canada for fifty years.
