And All For Love is the story of the imagined friendship between two of the first women on the Restoration stage in London in the mid 1600's. Winifred Gosnell has run away from the employ of diarist Samuel Pepys to take to the stage at the Duke's Company, where she meets Elizabeth Barry, ward of the Bettertons, the proprietors of the company. Elizabeth wants desperately to be an actress and fails repeatedly until she is tutored by the dissolute Lord Rochester, who takes her on as a bet. Winifred has initial success with the company but slowly loses her nerve and her ability. The two become friends but that friendship is tested as one's star rises and the other falls. A story of friendship and what two women do for their love of the theatre.
