Set in a small Miramichi (New Brunswick) community in the late 1950s, the story examines a unique and sheltered community that is about to change. Comprised of many stories: a poor woman trying to make sense of her life; two adolescent boys at a crossroads in their lives; a mysterious hermit; two love stories; and a virtual chorus of local voices. Adapted from the novel by Herb Curtis.
