You Understand English, Right? is a fast, crowd pleasing one act farce that turns a “make or break” job interview into a linguistic demolition derby.
James, already rattled at home by his wife Brenda’s loving but razor sharp teasing, walks into an interview with the maddeningly eccentric Chester Field, a recruiter whose “helpful” British slang and deliberate misunderstandings spiral into an avalanche of crossed wires, bruised pride, and escalating absurdity.
Just when it looks like James is doomed, the play flips: the chaos is revealed as a test, and the underdog finds his spine, using Chester’s own tactics to negotiate the job (and the respect) he deserves.
