This is a play about power. Hildegard of Bingen was a 12th century Benedictine abbess who challenged the hierarchy of a patriarchal church. Under edict, she still refused to rebury a supposedly excommunicated knight beyond church property. The play abounds in local colour including musicians and Hildegard's music. Contemporary themes are mirrored with women's struggle to be heard and the plight of modern combattants.
