Siobhan, a young Irish woman has undertaken to earn enough money to bring her family from Ireland. Toronto in 1846 is less than welcoming. She must give up her religion and her name and more. The potato famine in Ireland worsens, and those fleeing are laid low by ship’s fever. It is a fraught time in Toronto and beyond.
