Set on the stage in an Ontario town hall a few years after the assassination of the Hon. Thomas D'Arcy McGee on Spark Street in Ottawa in April, 1868. The play, in the form of a staged lecture, sponsored by the town's historical society, has a former Montreal journalist and friend of McGee's pay homage to his achievements as the visionary proponent of Canadian Confederation and the future of this country as a prosperous independent nation.
Much to his annoyance his presentation is constantly interrupted by a ragtag of musicians and balladeers who have also shown up to pay tribute to their departed hero.
