That's No Young Woman; That's My Lady! by John Kenwell

This 10-minute play examines the unique marriage of Sir Guy Carleton, Governor of Quebec and Canada in the late eighteenth century.

A reporter for the Quebec Gazette newspaper ostensibly interviews Governor Carleton about his military conquests and gubernatorial duties, but in truth really wants the details about Carleton's failed relationships, marriage proposal rejections, and his eventual marriage to a "child bride".
The events in this piece are inspired by a story recorded in the diary of Elizabeth, Mrs. John Graves Simcoe, who became First Lady of Upper Canada when her husband was elected first governor in 1791.
