Pontius Pilate and the Centurion's Mission by Peter Weston

The play addresses the aftermath of the crucifixion of Jesus from Pontius Pilate's point of view. Pilate would not think miracles happen, but he would accept the inexplicable does occur. The central issue addressed is that Pilate occupied a most distinguished position in Judea and made horribly poor decisions in regards to the crucifixion. The play imagines a narrative that would be caused by this conflict.

The genesis of the drama is the consequence of the power struggle between Caiaphas, the high priest, and Pilate, the governor of Judea. Both were appointed by Rome, the high priest being subordinate to the governor. The high priest however had exclusive jurisdiction over matters or the Sanhedrin. Conflict had to occur between the high priest and the governor as a consequence of the choices made by Jesus.
