Marian: A Play for One Woman in Two Acts by Scot Moir

Marian is a one woman retelling of the Robin Hood mythos from the female perspective of Maid Marian. Beginning sometime after Robin's death and the wicked Prince John's ascension to the throne, an older Marian wrestles with the question, "what was it all for?" The hardships of Sherwood forest, the Merry Men, the danger, the fighting, the faith? What does it matter now that everything they fought for is seemingly lost, and everything the fought against ascendent? How do hope, justice, and love persist in a world where the wicked still rule?

Along the way, we meet the wonderfully checkered cast of heroes and villains who populate the story, as Marian recounts herself recounts them: Little John, Friar Tuck, the lugubrious Sheriff of Nottingham, and of course Robin Hood himself. At turns rollicking and tragic, Marian crackles with the energy of tales told round the campfire.
