Loveseat is a comedy following Aisha, a sharp-witted Afghan woman who lands in Canada under… complicated circumstances. Fleeing Kabul, she’s “rescued” by her older lover, Hussein, who smuggles his much younger mistress onto a flight by claiming she’s his sister—right amid the Taliban’s chaos at the airport. In Vancouver, Aisha becomes the unexpected third wheel in Hussein’s apartment, living with his long-term partner, Nav. Introduced as Hussein’s “younger sister,” Aisha must navigate a claustrophobic triangle of secrets, lies, and absurd power plays.
Over the course of one chaotic night and day, truths unravel, alliances shift, and both women are forced to reckon with Hussein’s cowardice and their own desires. Raised in a polygamous culture, Aisha wonders if she should accept the arrangement—or flip the script entirely. Nav, a steadfast monogamist, is equally challenged, forcing both women to confront what they’ve tolerated, and what they’re ready to claim for themselves. By morning, the loveseat becomes a symbol: Aisha and Nav share space, power, and self-determination, while Hussein is left packing.
Loveseat is a sharp, darkly funny exploration of migration, love, infidelity, and ownership—of space and of others.
