These four scripts represent a pursuit of theatre's capacity for social impact - not through direct echos of the community that buys tickets to the theatre but through playful approaches to the affect and function of the art form itself.
Whale is a short piece about the meaning we find in the emotional labour that springs upon finds us and finding hope in the natural progress of life.
Hum-Buzz is a mad-dash dramatic performance text in blank verse which explores the absurd and chaotic choice to have children.
Amygdala is a poetic clown piece meant to unite audiences through trying times, soothing and simplifying the uncomfortable complexities in our shared inheritances.
Eruption at the Breithaupt Block, originally written for audio/digital theatre, is a speculative fiction set in Waterloo Region's Tent City encampment about how the monuments we build represent the priorities of our dominant cultures.
These four plays are independent of each other, differ greatly in form, but best appreciated in conversation with each other.
