Draft Dodger by Ray Rivers

It's 2008 and Nathan, a young US army soldier, has come to Toronto hoping to stay in Canada and avoid a second tour of duty in Iraq. He had contacted Professor Peter Yucovich, a Vietnam era US army draft dodger who now teaches American history at the University of Toronto and raises money for Palestinians in his spare time.

Peter and his wife Carolyn, who operates an amateur grow op, are stuck in a dead end relationship and Nathan is given license when the professor leaves to address a conference in Jordan. Though there are comedic moments, the play is a serious drama about war and the consequences of war, including military service.
