What are Friends For by John Cook
Larry Deker’s life is in shambles. The factory he worked at for years recently closed, his on-line dating attempts have yielded nothing but dozens of uneventful coffee dates and the dream of being a successful artist is, like the paintings stacked up in his apartment, collecting dust. However, there is a glimmer of hope. Charlton Winnington Smythe has offered him a job at the ‘Life Companion Discovery Network’, giving Larry a somewhat bizarre and unconventional opportunity to use his vast dating experience to become rich. Or so he is promised.
Then there’s Peggy Forthsythe, who also finds the ‘net’ to be shallow grounds for catching a suitable mate. As a novice interior designer, barely eking out a living, Peggy has high expectations that her biggest (and at the present only) client Bev Wingham will see to it that Peggy does not have to change her address from a P.O box to a cardboard box under a bridge.
Hilarity reigns amongst confusion, mistaken identities, deception and the search for the true meaning of friendship.
